Privacy policy
We keep your information safe and only use it to make and deliver your prints. Here’s exactly what we collect and why.
Last updated 3 November 2026
1. Who we are
Let Me 3D Print That (“we”, “us”) designs and 3D prints products, and makes custom 3D prints to order. We are the responsible party for the personal information you give us through this website, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
You can reach us at sales@letme3dprintthat.co.za or 082 773 7285.
2. What we collect
- Order details: your name, email address, mobile number, delivery address, the prints you order and any notes you add (for example names or text to print on personalised items).
- Custom request files: design files, photos and descriptions you upload with a custom request. We use them only to quote and make your order, and never share or reuse your designs.
- Account details (only if you create an account): your contact and address details and a password. Passwords are stored in encrypted (hashed) form, so we can never see them.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact or party enquiry forms.
- Newsletter: your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
- Payment records: invoice and payment status. We do not collect or store card or bank details. Payments are made by EFT from your own bank.
- Technical information: your IP address (used briefly to protect logins and forms from abuse) and the cookies described below.
- How the website is used (our own analytics, see below): the pages and products you look at, how long and how far you scroll, where you click, what you search for, and roughly where you came from (for example Google or Instagram), your type of device and browser, and your country.
3. How we use it
We only use your information for the purpose you gave it to us:
- to prepare and send your quote, make your prints, invoice you and arrange delivery or collection;
- to email you about your order (confirmations, quotes, invoices and status updates);
- to reply to your messages and enquiries;
- to run your optional customer account;
- to send our newsletter, only if you opted in. Every newsletter lets you unsubscribe, or you can simply ask us;
- to keep the records the law requires (for example tax records) and to keep the website secure.
- to understand which pages and products people find useful, so we can improve the shop and what we make;
Our lawful reasons are: carrying out the order you asked for, your consent (newsletter), our legal obligations, and our legitimate interest in running a safe, working shop. We never sell your information or use it for automated decision-making.
4. Who we share it with
We only share what’s needed, with service providers who help us run the business:
- Couriers and Pudo: your name, phone number and delivery address, so your parcel reaches you;
- Our website host and email provider: they store the website data and deliver our emails on our behalf;
- Our accountant or tax practitioner, and authorities like SARS when the law requires it.
These parties may only use your information to provide their service to us. Some providers (such as email services) may store data outside South Africa. When that happens, we only use providers bound by data protection laws or agreements that give protection similar to POPIA.
5. Children
Our website and orders are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you share a child’s details with us (for example a name to personalise an order), you confirm that you are their parent or guardian, or have their permission, and we use them only to make your order.
6. Cookies & browser storage
- Session cookie (
shop_session): keeps you signed in and protects our forms from misuse. It’s deleted when you close your browser. - Browser storage: your cart and wishlist are saved in your own browser (local storage) so they’re still there when you come back. This stays on your device and isn’t sent to us until you place an order.
- Our own analytics (
qs_vid,qs_sidand browser storage): a random number that recognises your browser when you come back, and one for the current visit. With it we record the pages and products you view, time on each page, scroll depth, clicks, searches, and whether you started or sent a form (never what you typed). If you place an order, sign in or create an account, your earlier visits from that browser are linked to your customer record, so we can see how you found us. IP addresses are shortened before they’re stored, so they can’t identify you. This data stays on our own website server; it isn’t shared with Google, Facebook or anyone else. Detailed visit records are deleted after 12 months (click positions after 90 days); after that we keep only totals, such as “120 visits on Monday”. We don’t record anything if your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal.
Analytics on this device: on · - We use no advertising cookies and don’t sell or share your browsing with others. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
7. How long we keep it
- Website analytics: detailed visit records for 365 days and click positions for 90 days, then only daily totals.
- Orders, quotes and invoices: 5 years, as required for tax records.
- Accounts: until you ask us to close your account (order records are then kept for the tax period above).
- Messages and enquiries: up to 2 years, unless they become part of an order.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
8. How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. These include an encrypted connection (HTTPS), hashed passwords, limits on login attempts, access to the back office only for our own team, and regular backups. If a data breach ever puts your information at risk, we’ll notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask whether we hold information about you and request a copy;
- ask us to correct or update it (you can also do this yourself under My details);
- ask us to delete it, where we don’t have to keep it by law;
- object to us using it, and withdraw consent (for example for the newsletter) at any time;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
Just email sales@letme3dprintthat.co.za. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we’ll respond within 30 days.
10. Contact & complaints
Our Information Officer can be reached at sales@letme3dprintthat.co.za. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforeg.org.za.
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
